Writing to Your MP

Writing to MPs
A Member of Parliament (MP) is a direct link to federal change which starts in your own neighbourhood. If something is important to you and you want it to be discussed in Parliament, it is your civil right to communicate with your local MP.
If the issues you have read about on this blog have affected you, please take a couple of talking points and write a letter. The more letters an MP receives, the more likely he or she will be to realize how important this issue is to the citizens in their riding. The more MPs who realize this, the more likely it is to be brought up in Parliament.
Don’t know what an MP is? Get educated. Here’s a quick rundown of what MPs do: http://canadaonline.about.com/cs/parliament/a/rolemps.htm
Why Write a Letter?
Letters are very personal. How often does a handwritten letter appear in your mailbox? E-mails are easier, sure, but imagine an email inbox with 200 emails in it. It’s not very impressive. Now imagine an MP’s desk with 200 handwritten letters. They would be incredibly hard to ignore.
Phone calls are great too, but keep in mind you may not actually get to speak to your MP because you will be intercepted by a receptionist or secretary. It’s always worth a shot, though!

Get bothered. Then do something about it.
It's your right and priviledge.
